GENERAL
  • temperature runs cold (35.3C/95.5F according to the thermometer relic, jfc nanashi...), which is probably because of the whole "not technically being alive" thing; his body temperature probably goes back to normal post-canon. his blood pressure is also on the low but healthy side, so his heart beating/blood circulation during canon might just be dagda trying hard enough to make him passably physically human but not expending energy past that, haha.
  • with relics, he seems to tend to either think about (1) their practical value or (2) past memories he has relating to them (like tying up asahi with rope...). he doesn't recognize some current day technology (outdated) and is curious about the use some of the leisure items.
  • he's also weirdly obsessed with weaponizing items... like fake nails. hairspray as a flamethrower. kitchenware, naturally, are considered in this aspect as well. even yen coins could be used to distract demons! ... for a second!
  • can crossdress. nobody comments on this. nanashi points out in some relics that traditionally gendered clothing items are usually worn by women, not always, so he probably doesn't care too much.
  • drawing from his alternate universe existences (blasted tokyo and infernal tokyo akira): he seems to naturally be opposed to any state where he does not feel he has autonomy/free will over his own actions, whether it's oppression from other humans (kenji in infernal tokyo) or divine intervention (pluto in blasted tokyo).
  • ultimately, both akiras show that their idealism is greater than their sense of practicality; for example, demonoid akira having a reputation for keeping his promises even when he doesn't seem to have the capability to deliver.
  • from the smt iv official artbook: "it's clear that either version of akira is destined to become 'king akira' and found the eastern kingdom of mikado. both are also isited by tragedy when, in the nuclear war, akira's older sister dies after being spirited away by the angels. even in the 'real' world, a boy named akira lives in tokyo and waits for the return of his sister, who was taken up to the heavens." "no matter which world akira lives in, he's a natural-born leader who never loses hope. he's a great guy who - no matter what trials lie ahead - never succumbs to grief and never stops moving forward."
  • the "canon" akira also seems to have that bent for idealism as well, seeing as he stayed above the firmament to try to build a land above and vowed to meet fujiwara and skins again. additionally, it's vaguely implied he died trying to seal the four archangels — so he died as he lived, trying to ensure humanity's free will. in a sense, akira/nanashi always gravitates towards neutrality/the path where humans have the free will to pick their path — past neutral akira founds mikado, infernal akira establishes society, blasted akira throws off the shackles of oppression. nanashi himself can only live/influence the plot in the neutral route of base iv.
  • nanashi tends to follow these ideas more in bonds route, when he risks his life to turn against dagda's ideal; but he still shows shades of it in picking the massacre route (in that he will make a new universe with "true" free will).
  • he also doesn't seem to care much for his reputation, with both "akira" becoming a hated name and his own reputation going to shit (albeit temporarily) for letting krishna free
  • his special demon as "king aquila" was aeshma, a demon of wrath, war, and conflict. "he chases the souls of the dead when they rise towards heaven."
  • probably has a sense of humor close to asahi's, given some of his dialogue choices and the fact that they grew up together.

V. BONDS ROUTE
  • rather cheeky/mouthy, but has his heart in the right place — he knows when to be serious
  • only looks like a delinquent, never actually does anything delinquent-like...
  • he smoked a cigarette once, to try doing something stereotypically delinquent-esque. never again. asahi isn't permitted to speak of the memory.
  • accepting of others, doesn't really care too much about differences, naturally a fair/even-handed person
  • a good listener
  • tries to be rational, but has a knee-jerk reaction to throw himself into a problem if somebody seems like they need saving

V. MASSACRE ROUTE
  • more taciturn, not cheeky so much as he is casually cruel
  • will mislead/manipulate people
  • there is an implication based on how asahi reacts to the massacre route options that suggests nanashi might be more of a puppet or otherwise compelled by dagda's influence to act unlike himself
  • a frequent liar by omission rather than the kind of liar who doesn't tell the truth
  • finds it a waste of time to explain what's on his mind and instead moves to influence people while divulging minimal information
  • deliberately closed off from others
  • still a good listener, just... not for kind reasons
  • he does hesitate before going for the tpk, but ultimately for self-centered reasons
